Technology Behind BBL

  • Light Spectrum: BBL uses a broad spectrum of light, ranging from visible to infrared, which allows it to target a wide variety of skin issues. Unlike traditional IPL, BBL can be customized to target specific skin conditions more precisely.
  • Wavelengths: The device has multiple filters to adjust the wavelength of light, enabling it to penetrate different layers of the skin and address various concerns, such as pigmentation, redness, and overall skin tone.

What should I expect?

Consultation: You’ll have an initial consultation with one of our qualified providers to discuss your skin concerns, medical history, and goals. The provider will assess your skin type and concerns to determine if BBL is suitable for you.

Preparation

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: It is imperative to avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for a minimum of 2 weeks before the treatment to reduce the risk of complications.
  • Pre-Treatment Instructions: Avoid harsh exfoliants and retinols/retinoids for 2 weeks before your treatment. Follow any specific instructions given by your provider.
  • Clean Skin: Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.

The Procedure

  • Protective Eyewear: You will wear protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the bright light.
  • Light Pulses: The provider will use a handheld device to deliver pulses of light to the treatment area. The light targets specific skin issues such as pigmentation, redness, or vascular lesions.
  • Sensation: You might feel a mild stinging or snapping sensation with each pulse of light, which is generally well-tolerated. Some describe it as a rubber band snap against the skin.

After the Treatment

Immediate Post-Treatment

  • Redness and Swelling: The treated area may be red and slightly swollen, similar to a mild sunburn. This usually fades within a few hours to a couple of days.
  • Pigmentation Changes: Pigmented spots may darken initially before they flake off or fade. Redness might intensify before improving.
  • Discomfort: Any discomfort is usually minimal and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers if needed.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Sun Protection: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily to protect your skin and avoid sun exposure. Sun protection is crucial to prevent pigmentation changes and ensure optimal results.
  • Moisturizing: Keep the skin hydrated with a gentle moisturizer to aid the healing process.
  • Avoid Irritants: Avoid using harsh skincare products, such as those with retinoids, exfoliants, or strong acids, for a few days post-treatment.
  • Avoid Heat: Refrain from hot showers, saunas, or strenuous exercise that might increase sweating for a few days.

Results

  1. Initial Effects: You might see some immediate improvement, but the full results often take a few weeks to become visible as the skin continues to heal and regenerate.
  2. Optimal Results: For many concerns, multiple treatments are required to achieve the best results. Typically, 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart are recommended.
